Description	:	Northwest Blade, Eureka, SD, Apr. 17, 2002 — EUREKA – The funeral for Magdalena Lapp, 101, of Bakersfield, Calif., and formerly of Eureka will be Friday, April 19 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Eureka. The Rev. Dean Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Eureka with arrangements by Carlsen Funeral Home of Eureka. The Rev. Dean Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Eureka with arrangements by Carlsen Funeral Home of Eureka. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home and for an hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. She died Saturday, April 13, 2002, at her home. Magdalena Bender was born on May 23, 1900, to Jacob and Christina (Martel) Bender southeast of Eureka on the family homestead. She grew up and attended country school in this area. She helped on the family farm. She married William Lapp on Nov. 11, 1919, at the Lutheran Parsonage in Eureka. They made their home five miles southeast of Eureka where they raised small grains and livestock. In the early 1960s, they semi-retired on the farm. Her husband died in 1969. In the fall of 1969, she moved into Eureka. In 1994, she moved to Lodi, Calif., to live with her daughter, Lucille. In 1999, she moved to Bakersfield to live with her granddaughter, Rebecca and husband Steve Chisholm. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Eureka and the Ladies Aide. She enjoyed making noodles and was known as a great cook. Survivors include one daughter, Lucille Preszler of Lodi; three sons, Herbert (Irene) Lapp of Phoenix, Ariz., Albert (Alice) Lapp of Arvada, Colo., and Maurice Lapp of Lafyette, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, 12 brothers and sisters. Casket-bearers will be Arnold, Lapp, Carey Lapp, Hilary Lapp, Melroy Job and Earl Gruebele, all of Eureka and Arnold Herrboldt of Hosmer. Organist will be Selma Lapp with a duet by Barry and Ronda Lapp. ===============================
