Read More	The Schuyler Sun (Schuyler, Nebr.), February 8, 1923, p. 4, col. 1 MAGDALINE SHALON DEAD Mrs. Magdaline Beran Shalon, since 1871 a resident of the vicinity of Linwood, died at her home, south of Linwood, Tuesday, February 6, following an illness of almost a year. Mrs. Shalon, whose maiden name was Beran was born at Lhota, Bohemia, September 22, 1838, being at the time of death, 84 years, 4 months and 14 days old. In 1862, she was united in marriage to Albert Shalon, and in 1871 with her husband and children came to Butler county to make their home. The old homestead is still in the family, and there it was that she died. The Shalon family was one of the earliest of Bohemian nationality to locate in that section which has since afforded a home for hundreds of others. Mrs. Shalon made her home in Schuyler for about eight years, following the death of her husband. She was the mother of nine children, four of whom preceded her in death. Those surviving are: Mrs. Frank Marek and Mrs. Anton Hajek of Schuyler, Mrs. Anton Brym, Mrs. Joseph Krank of Dwight, and James Shalon of Linwood. The deceased was a life-long member of the Catholic faith, and lived according to the tenets of her church. The funeral will be conducted this Thursday from the Catholic church at Abie, with interment in the Dwight cemetery. Funeral services were held in St. Peter's and Paul's church at Abie. The remains were taken to Dwight and interment was in the Dwight Catholic cemetery. She was 85 years, 2 months old. Her death was from old age. She was born in Bohemia and came to America in 1871, settling in Butler county, of which she has been a resident since. Her husband preceded her to the grave several years ago and her home has since been in the home of her son, James Shalon. The remains were taken to Dwight Wednesday evening and funeral services were held from the Catholic church on Thursday morning. She is survived by two sons, Frank and James, and four daughters, Mrs. Anton Brym, Mrs. Frank Marek, Mrs. Anton Hajek and Mrs. Joseph Krenk, besides a number of grandchildren.
