Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Congregational-Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard T. Hartshorn, minister, officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Congregational-Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard T. Hartshorn, minister, officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were G.H. Langhorst, P.O. Adams, Roy Koppelman, Roger Larson, Lawrence Schmadeke and John Rehder. Maggie Annie Gordon, first child of Robert R. and Jessie B. Dick Gordon, was born June 11, 1882 near Huron, S.D. When she was a small girl the family moved to Des Moines , Ia., where her father died. Later they returned to Huron to live with her grandfather. In the early 1890's she came to Nebraska with the W.H. Youel family. She was 11 years old at the time. In all there were seven children making the trip in a covered wagon with a hayrack carrying their belongings and cattle being driven. They arrived in Niobrara late in November. After a few weeks they moved to a farm about 14 miles east of Niobrara. In 1904 they moved to Center and operated the North Hotel for 18 months. They came to Creighton July 3, 1905. They did not plan to stay long, but it eventually became her home the rest of her life. George Agler came from Stanton in October, 1909. On Feb. 7, 1910, they were married. Mr. Agler operated a shoe store. Later, his brother , Jerry joined him and it was then know as Agler Brothers. Mr. and Mrs. Agler had no children of their own, but reared four foster children, Lewellyn, Luella and Howard Gordon and Ian Youel. Mr. Agler died Oct. 23, 1959. Mrs. Agler continued her life of service in the community. She was civic minded, both in church and community affairs. She was in Red Cross work for 40 years, had been a member of the Order of Eastern Star for more than 50 years, was first president of the Creighton American Legion Auxiliary, a charter member of the Lundberg Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and helped with other community affairs. She was worthy matron of the OES in 1941 and held just about every office in the chapter. She received her 50 year pin in 1958. Surviving are two foster sons, Howard Gordon of Toledo, O. and Ian Youel of San Bernardino, Calif.; one brother, George Youel of Gordon and two sisters, Mrs. Mike (Grace) Haggerty of Omaha and Mrs. Ellen Hollender of Finville, Mich.
