Description	:	My Great-Grandma spent most of her life in the Hardin and Story County area. Maggie was born in Norway in 1893 and came to America in 1895 when she was just a small child. The family settled in Kendall County, Illinois. Her father, John, was a farm laborer while they lived in Illinois. Maggie was born in Norway in 1893 and came to America in 1895 when she was just a small child. The family settled in Kendall County, Illinois. Her father, John, was a farm laborer while they lived in Illinois. She had one brother, Otto Conrad, that was born in 1896 while they lived in Illinois. Between 1900 and 1904, the family moved on to Iowa. Maggie's sister, Hazel Clarice, was born in 1904 in Hardin County, Iowa. Sister, Agnes, was born in 1907 in Hardin County also. The family lived on a farm in Hardin County where her Dad was a farmer on his own land. On February 22, 1911 Maggie married Alfred Christopherson in Garden City, Hardin County, Iowa. They settled in Hardin County where Alfred farmed. The couple welcomed seven children to their lives. Mina Irene, their first child, was born in November 1911 and passed away in Oct 1917. My Grandfather, Milo Othelo, AKA "Mike", was born in December 1914. Second daughter, Katherine Jean, was born in October 1916. Twin sons, Lee Allen and Lyle Myrl, were born September 1918. Third daughter, Louise Irene, was born in October 1919 and passed away in 1927. Their last child, John Laverne, was a New Year's Day baby born in 1922. She was a busy farm wife, caring for her husband, children and home. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As I was growing up, Great-Grandma would comment on how tall I was getting and then she would say she might need to put a waffle iron on my head to keep me from getting any taller. I always thought GGrandma was silly when she said that, but as I grew up, I could understand why she said it. Great-Grandma was not a very tall lady, so she didn't want too many of her great-grandchildren to grow up past her height. Great-Grandma Maggie was the only great-grandmother I had when I was growing up and I treasure the memories of her. May she rest in peace. Miss you so much Great-Grandma.
