McKinney, of Lynchburg. The body was laid to rest in the family cemetery beside that of her husband, James W. Thompson, who preceded her to the grave twelve years ago, and to whom she had been married a little more than 58 years. Read More	BEECH GROVE, Aug. 14.-Funeral services for Mrs. Maggie Jane Thompson, who died Sunday night, July 27, were conducted from the home Tuesday morning by her pastor, Rev. J. L. McKinney, of Lynchburg. The body was laid to rest in the family cemetery beside that of her husband, James W. Thompson, who preceded her to the grave twelve years ago, and to whom she had been married a little more than 58 years. Born April 17, 1852, Mrs. Thompson was in her 90th year and at the time of her death was the oldest citizen in the Beech Grove community. She was the mother of six children, three of whom survive. The first death in her home was that of her 15-months-old son, Burnlie Sheppard, who was accidently burned to death in 1879. Another son, John James, died in 1898 at the age of 24, leaving an infant son, Harvey Thompson, whom the deceased took into her home and cared for as her own until he reached manhood and was married. In 1903, tragedy again came into the home of this good woman when her son, Arthur O'Conard, aged 21, was instantly killed while helping to get saw logs out of the mountains. Yet her faith in God never seemed to waver and when her husband was paralyzed and remained helpless in bed for the last twelve years of his life she cared for him devotedly with never a murmur. Hers was a trusting faith and she went smiling through the years. Children who survive are C. Londie Thompson and Mrs. Charlie Quick, of Beech Grove, and Mrs. Lena Grant, of near Lyndhurst. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and tree great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers who were grandchildren and great-grandchildren were Worthy Thompson, Pelston Grant, Carlton Grant, Mangus Grant, Jacob Quick, Henry Quick, Harvey Thompson, J. T. Quick, Guy Towler and Hawthorne Quick. Flowerbearers were Mrs. Benton Coffey, Mrs. Carlton Grant, Mrs. Guy Towler, Misses Ollie Campbell, Charlotte Dodd, Elsie Coffey, Eliza Ann Hamilton.
