Description	:	Maggie Simmons Waldron, age 98, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2013. She was born in Williamsburg County, a daughter of Samuel Cooper Waldron and Juanita Haselden Waldron. Miss Waldron was a graduate of Hemingway High School and the University of South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, including Cecile Capell of Georgetown, SC, Alberta (Becky) Santangelo of Lunenburg, MA, Willie Rena Pendarvis of St. George, SC, Juanita Mobley of Rocky Mount, NC, and a brother, Samuel (Sonny) Waldron of Georgetown, SC. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, including Cecile Capell of Georgetown, SC, Alberta (Becky) Santangelo of Lunenburg, MA, Willie Rena Pendarvis of St. George, SC, Juanita Mobley of Rocky Mount, NC, and a brother, Samuel (Sonny) Waldron of Georgetown, SC. She is survived by one sister-in-law, Eugenia Johnson Waldron of Georgetown, SC. She also leaves four nieces and two nephews. Miss Maggie was a retired Army nurse. During World War II, she was stationed in Coral Gables, Florida where they flew the wounded from the war to be treated. The U.S. Armed Forces had turned the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables into a hospital where her nursing skills were needed. After the war, she worked at the Veterans' Hospital in Columbia, SC until she retired. Many years after retiring, Miss Maggie moved to Georgetown to be near her relatives and lived in an assisted living facility before moving to the Veterans' Victory House in Walterboro, SC. Besides the care she received at Victory House, she had two devoted sitters, Michelle Brown and Charlene Martin, as well as two loving nieces, Rose Bell and Loxi Capell. Graveside funeral services, conducted by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will be held in the Old Johnsonville Cemetery at 3:00 P.M.
