Description	:	The River Press Fort Benton, Montana April 29, 1925 Maj. A. A. Cabaniss Word reached Fort Benton Saturday of the death of Major Cabaniss which occurred that morning at the Presidio hospital, San Francisco. Maj. Cabaniss was widely known in this vicinity some thirty years ago, being stationed for a time at Assinniboine. Cabaniss Word reached Fort Benton Saturday of the death of Major Cabaniss which occurred that morning at the Presidio hospital, San Francisco. Maj. Cabaniss was widely known in this vicinity some thirty years ago, being stationed for a time at Assinniboine. In 1888 the decedent, then holding the rank of lieutenant, was married in this city of Miss Sophia Patterson, sister of George D. Patterson. The company was moved to Fort Missoula later and Maj. Canbaniss went to the Philippines in the Spanish-American war. Upon his return, he for a time was at Columbus Barracks, Ohio, and about fifteen years ago was mustered out at Oswego, New York, due to failing health. Mr. and Mrs. Cabaniss have spent recent years on the west coast and in travel, coming to Fort Benton to visit relatives a number of times. For the past several years they have made their home in California, of which state the Major was a native.
