| Description | : | Brother of former U.S. Congressman, later C.S.A. Secretary of War James A. Seddon, he attended the University Of Virginia. Returning to Virginia after serving in the Mexican War, he married Mary Alexander Little in 1848. Living in Fredericksburg, Va., he was a delegate from Virginia to the Democratic National Convention in 1860. At age 34, he enlisted on 5/14/1861, and was commissioned into Company D, 1st Virginia Battalion Infantry, as its Captain.
