| Description | : | He was the son of Mathew Mann Drake & Winefred Fitts. He attended Randolph Macon College. Civil War service record shows enlistment as Captain on August 16, 1861, age 29, Co. B, 30th Infantry Regiment, NC. He served until June 11, 1863 when he had to resign due to ill health. After a few months, his health improved and he was appointed command of the 6th Battalion of NC troops and promoted to Major.
