Description	:	Malbert Lee Johnson, 81, of Westfield, NC passed to his heavenly home on October 3, 2014. He was born March 9, 1933 in Surry County to Rev. Hardin Atkin and Laura Alice Gardner Johnson. Malbert is survived by his wife of 50 years Judy Vaughn Johnson of the home; daughters Jeanne Johnson of the home and Janetta Johnson of Greensboro, NC; one brother, Kyle Johnson (Shirley) of Rural Hall, NC; two sisters, Georgia Freeman (Robert) and Wanda Dickens of Mount Airy; one sister-in-law, Mary Ann Johnson of Pilot Mountain. He was born March 9, 1933 in Surry County to Rev. Hardin Atkin and Laura Alice Gardner Johnson. Malbert is survived by his wife of 50 years Judy Vaughn Johnson of the home; daughters Jeanne Johnson of the home and Janetta Johnson of Greensboro, NC; one brother, Kyle Johnson (Shirley) of Rural Hall, NC; two sisters, Georgia Freeman (Robert) and Wanda Dickens of Mount Airy; one sister-in-law, Mary Ann Johnson of Pilot Mountain. In addition to his parents and stepmother Betty Shelton Johnson, he was preceded in death by five brothers, George, H.A. Jr., John, J. Van, and Donald; four sisters, Myrtle Hawks, Beulah Adkins, Margaret Feddon, and Estelle Marion. Malbert was a faithful member of Westfield Friends Meeting where he sang in the choir, served as an elder, Sunday School Superintendent, and on various committees. After retiring from AMP, INC., Malbert drove a bus at Westfield Elementary and East Surry High Schools. He also volunteered for Meals on Wheels, North Carolina Friends Disaster Service, and, most recently, Pilot Mountain Outreach Center. Funeral services will be conducted by Linda Anderson and James Parker, current pastor and former pastor, respectively, at Westfield Friends Meeting on Monday, October 6, at 2:00 p.m. The family will greet friends in the Fellowship Hall of the meetinghouse from 12:30-1:30 on Monday. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Westfield Friends Meeting Cemetery.
