Description	:	Malinda Clay Was born July 23, 1836, near Tiffin, Ohio, and died in her home in Hudson, Ind., May 16, 1908, age 71 years, 9 months and 20 days. At the age of 9 years, she with her parents, one brother, and one sister settled in DeKalb county, Ind., in 1845. After living there ten years, the father purchased a home in Elkhart county. They were not permitted to enjoy their new home together as death claimed the father, but the mother with her eight children moved to the new house. Read More	Malinda Clay Was born July 23, 1836, near Tiffin, Ohio, and died in her home in Hudson, Ind., May 16, 1908, age 71 years, 9 months and 20 days. At the age of 9 years, she with her parents, one brother, and one sister settled in DeKalb county, Ind., in 1845. After living there ten years, the father purchased a home in Elkhart county. They were not permitted to enjoy their new home together as death claimed the father, but the mother with her eight children moved to the new house. In 1855, the deceased was united in marriage to Jacob Hissong of Elkhart county. To this union were given seven children. The husband, one son, and two daughters had preceded her to the spirit world. One daughter, Mrs. Nancy Clingan of Ashley, Ind., three sons, Chancey of Corunna, Elijah and Amos of Hudson are left to mourn the loss of a mother. There are four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Of her eight brothers and sisters, there remain but two, Elijah Clay of near Hudson, Ind., and Mrs. Adeline Swinhart of near Elkhart, Ind. In the prime of her life, she united with the German Baptist church and lived a faithful Christian life. She lived in it such a quiet unassuming way that it was little realized what a wholesome Christian influence she had among her many friends. The many anxious inquiries and watching of her friends and loved ones during her days of suffering show the esteem in which she was held. Now that she has been called to receive the reward of the faithful may it be the aim of each one to follow her example and meet her beyond death's darkness where all is life and beauty and no more suffering. The funeral services were held at the U. B. Church at Hudson conducted by Newton Snowberger. The remains were laid to rest by the side of her daughter Ella in Circle Cemetery.
