Description	:	The funeral of Mrs. Clementine Cox was held at Bluff Creek Union chapel Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock, the remains having been brought from the Cheesman funeral home in Oskaloosa by auto. Rev. McFerran, a Presbyterian minister from Oskaloosa, spoke words of comfort to the bereaved relatives and friends. The remains were laid to rest in the Bluff Creek cemetery. Rev. McFerran, a Presbyterian minister from Oskaloosa, spoke words of comfort to the bereaved relatives and friends. The remains were laid to rest in the Bluff Creek cemetery. Mallnda Clementine Gaines was born in Bartholomew county, Indiana, February 26th, 1848. In March 1866; she was united in marriage to John W. Cox. Soon after their marriage they came to West Des Moines, township, Mahaska county, and had ever since made that township their home. Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Cox, of whom the youngest son Grover C. is the last surviving member. He occupies the old family homestead in West Des Moines township There are also seven grandchildren who are left behind. The husband died September 12th, 1911. The four children who have passed away are: Charles Albert, the oldest son, who died December 17th, 1907, at the age of forty years. Nona Ethel, who died June 5th, 1909, aged almost thirty years. Maude Ella, aged almost two years, and Thomas Edward, aged six years, who both died of scarlet fever in January, 1877. Years ago the subject of this sketch became a member of the M.E. church. In May, 1914, she fell and fractured her hip and had since been an invalid. For some time she was treated at the Oskaloosa hospital and it was at that place that this well known old settler of West Des Moines township passed away on July 10th, 1915, at the age of sixty-seven years.
