Many of her father's siblings, with their families, went to Iowa in the mid 1850s. Jane may have died between 1850 and the time Enoch is found on the 1854 Iowa State Census records for Wayne County, South Fork Township. Enoch was born in Monongalia (W)VA in 1790, the son of Maj. David Scott (War of 1812) and grandson of Capt.James Scott (Revolutionary War Minuteman). He was living with son, Alexander, in South Fork for the 1860 and 1870 census. He had died by 1880, with some famly info thinking around 1875. Burial is suspected to have been in the destroyed Dodrill Cemetery in Wayne County, which was very close to Enoch's property. Two brothers of Malinda's have unknown gravesites. A brother named Enoch..according to family lore..was run off by his father due to political differences. Another named Jacob W. was in South Fork, Wayne County in the 1880 census with a younger wife and several children. He lived very close to his brother, Alexander. Jacob's first wife, Luveda Scott (1827-Dec 15, 1856, wife of J.W. Scott) is buried in the Jones Cemetery, South Fork, Wayne County next to Malissa J. Scott South (wife of D. South), who was a sister of Jacob's. Her husband was named Daniel South. The other known children of Enoch and Jane Neely Scott are: George Scott and David I. Scott (both at Promise City Cemetery, Wayne County, Iowa), Alexander Scott (West Liberty Cemetery, Lucerne, Putnam County, Missouri), Matilda Scott Clelland (wife of James, Osage Cemetery, Agra, Lincoln County, Oklahoma), Malinda Jane Scott Thatcher (wife of Thomas, Confidence Cemetery, Wayne County, Iowa), and Malissa J. Scott South (Jones Cemetery, Wayne County, Iowa). **The grave site of Malinda's brother, Jacob, is in Armada Cemetery, Buffalo County, Nebraska. Although in Wayne County, Iowa in 1880, he and his family were in Gibbon, Buffalo, Nebraska in the 1885 Nebraska State Census.
