Daniels, at Charles City, Iowa, July 4th at 1 p.m., aged 80 years, 10 months and 10 days. After the death of her husband on March 19, 1924, she went to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Daniels, at Charles City, Iowa. ..She is survived by four children: Otto, of Des Moines, Mrs. J. M. Daniels, Charles City, Iowa, Orin of Los Angeles, Cal., and Harley, of White Lake, S. D. ..The body arrived here Tuesday morning and funeral services are being held from the Methodist church this (Wednesday) afternoon at 2 o’clock, by Rev. Martin H. Keast. Interment will be in Southlawn Cemetery. ..An obituary will appear next week. --------------------------------------- The Seymour Herald – 15 July 1926 --------------------------------------- ..Malinda M., daughter of Samuel P. and Mary Pendergast, was born August 24, 1845 in Ripley County, Indiana and passed away July 4, at 1 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James Daniels, Charles City, Iowa. At the time of her death Mrs. Thomas was 80 years, 10 months and 10 days. ..Mrs. Thomas came with her parents to Appanoose County, Iowa, in the Fall of 1851. Here she grew to womanhood. October 6, 1863 she was married to Michael W. Thomas. Mr. Thomas preceded her in death, March 19, 1924. Since the death of Mr. Thomas she has made her home with her daughter in Charles City. Four children were born to this union: Orin M. of Los Angeles, Otto, of Des Moines, Mrs. Mary Etta Daniels, Charles City, and Harley, of White Lake, South Dakota. Mrs. Thomas has one sister living, Mrs. Rebecca Smith, Indianola, Iowa, Mrs. Smith was too feeble to attend the funeral. ..As a small girl Mrs. Thomas was converted and united with the M. E. church. Her father was a Methodist minister. In all these years she has been a faithful member of the church and loyal to its very interests. She has, also, been a member of the Lone Tree Rebekah Lodge, in which she has had much prominence by filling various offices through long terms. ..Mrs. Thomas has been a loving mother in the home. The proud moments of her life have been those spent with her children and in her own home. Her life has been given in highest dedication to these interests. Even during the long months of her last illness, when she was so dependent upon the tender ministrations of her daughter, her great concern was that she should be the least possible care. Her aim has been to serve rather than to be served. In her life the true Christian spirit has been wonderfully manifest, and many arise to bless her memory. ..The funeral service was held at the Methodist church, Wednesday afternoon, July 7, 1926 at 2:30 o’clock, in charge of Rev. Martin H. Keast, pastor. The following quartette sang: Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Hays, Mrs. H. S. Eckles and E. W. Smith. Mrs. Mary Burchett accompanist. Interment was in Southlawn.
