Description	:	Malissa "June" (Mowrey) Ingram Carpenter, 84 years of age, of Kearney, Nebraska (formerly of Topeka, Kansas) passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at the Mt. Carmel Home Keens Memorial in Kearney. June was born June 14, 1923 at Kearney, Nebraska, the only child of Oscar and Mary (Kaps) Mowrey. Read More	Malissa "June" (Mowrey) Ingram Carpenter, 84 years of age, of Kearney, Nebraska (formerly of Topeka, Kansas) passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at the Mt. Carmel Home Keens Memorial in Kearney. June was born June 14, 1923 at Kearney, Nebraska, the only child of Oscar and Mary (Kaps) Mowrey. When June was six weeks of age her mother passed away and she was raised by her father's cousin, Ada Malissa (Mowrey) Simmons and her husband, Irven. She received her education at Mason City, Nebraska, graduating from Mason City High School. Following her education, June moved to California during World War II and was united in marriage to William C. Ingram Jr. in 1941. After the war, the couple moved to Broken Bow, Nebraska where she was the secretary for the Principal of the high school. Later in years, they returned to Kearney, where June was an officer in the Platte Valley State Bank. During her career she attended the Louisiana Graduate School of Banking in Baton Rouge. When the bank was sold, June relocated to Topeka, Kansas and served as the Executive Director of the Multiple Sclerosis Society for Eastern Kansas until her retirement. Following retirement, June moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, where she was united in marriage to John Carpenter on May 1, 1997. Following John's passing she moved to Holdrege in 1998. In February of 2003, due to her declining health June made her home at the Mt. Carmel Home in Kearney where she resided until her death. She enjoyed golfing, loved to shop, and was a sports enthusiast. She especially loved Husker Football and Kansas City Royals Baseball. June was a member of the St. Elizabeth Episcopal Church in Holdrege. She leaves to mourn her passing her foster brother, Ivan Simmons and his wife, Shirley; brother-in-law, Dale Ingram and his wife, Wilma; sister-in-law, Nancy (Ingram) Barney all of Kearney; cousins: DiAnn Harris of Holdrege, Mike Simmons of Kearney and Jackie Janssen and her husband, Bill of Litchfield, Nebraska; Angie Naiman, a special friend of the family of Holdrege; nieces and nephews: Jackie Wiester and her husband, Robert, Ken Anderson and his wife, Linda all of Kearney, Tim Anderson and his wife, Carla of Ashland, Nebraska, Cheri Schroeder of Kearney and Cindy Fahrenbruch and her husband, Jim of Loomis, Nebraska; the children of her second husband, and other relatives and friends. Besides her two husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; foster parents; her foster sister, Lila (Simmons) Simonson and her husband, Richard; brother-in-law, Jerry Ingram and sister-in-law, Ardis Anderson and her husband, Joyce.
