Description	:	Malita Christina Fuehrer Steffen, 82, of Fairmont, died Sunday, October 20, 1991, at the Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln. Malita Fuehrer was born August 13, 1909, near Stockham in Farmer's Valley in Hamilton County to Peter and Christina (Griess) Fuehrer. She was the last surviving member of a family of eleven children. She was baptized, September 29, 1909, in the Reformed faith by Pator Louis Kunst and confirmed in the Reformed faith, May 3, 1925, by Pastor Reinhold Birk. Read More	Malita Christina Fuehrer Steffen, 82, of Fairmont, died Sunday, October 20, 1991, at the Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln. Malita Fuehrer was born August 13, 1909, near Stockham in Farmer's Valley in Hamilton County to Peter and Christina (Griess) Fuehrer. She was the last surviving member of a family of eleven children. She was baptized, September 29, 1909, in the Reformed faith by Pator Louis Kunst and confirmed in the Reformed faith, May 3, 1925, by Pastor Reinhold Birk. She attended rural country school District 73 in Hamilton County. On January 31, 1943, she was united in marriage to John Steffen at her parents home in Sutton. To this union one daughter, Elizabeth, was born. They farmed near Lushton until 1962, when they retired and moved to York. While living in York, they joined the Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. Her husband died in 1968. In 1984, she moved to the Henderson Nursing home for a year. She moved to Fairmont in 1985 and lived with her daughter and later living in her own home near her daughter's in Fairmont. In December 1988, she became a resident of the Fairview Manor in Fairmont, where she resided until her death. She was a member of the Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in York. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; six sisters, Clare, Vera, Emma, Alma, Julia, and Helen; and four brothers, Leon, Ephraim, Arthur and Albert. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Long and husband, Harold (Butch) of Fairmont; two grandchildren, Paula and Elliott Long; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Marcia Koerner accompanied Randal Griess, who sang "The King is Coming," "Whispering Hope" and "Beautiful Savior." Pallbearers were Melvin Griess, Ardean Kohtz, Raymond Boehler, Mark Lambert, Fritz Scheele and Tim Ochsner. Interment was in the Greenwood Cemetery in York.
