Read More	Wife of Harry Departed this life for a far better world on Aug. 21, 1804, Mrs. Malla E. M., daughter of Cecil M. and Ettie A. Broce, and wife of Harry E. Pugh, aged 17 years, 9 months, and 4 days. Endowed with fine talents and characterized by a devotion to duty, she was early noted for her zeal and success in church work, and early assumed the vows of membership in the Evangelical Lutheran church at Blacksburg. As President of the Children's Aid Society she materially aided in collecting funds for the creation of the Luther Memorial church. In the Sunday-school no false fear ever interfered with her discharge of duty, and whatever she was called upon to do, for that she could be depended upon. Gifted with a good voice she greatly aided in rendering the songs of Zion, especially in the Sunday-school. In the Luther League her services were constant and valuable, and only the week before the fatal illness developed she as leader conducted the mooting. In early spring she had a severe attack of La Grippe, this developed rapid consumption, from which she never rallied, and on Aug. 21st she followed in death the babe of a day old. Surrounded by all the comforts of life in her paternal home and the loving ministration of parents and husband, everything was done to stay the fell monster death, but he had claimed her as his own. Brief her life, but yet full of useful service and characterized by a sincere devotion to the cause of Christ whom she dearly loved, it was not in vain. We count life not by years, but by deeds, and her young life has a record far beyond its short span, and loved ones left behind are cheered by this record and prompted to greater service by her example. During her illness she gave bright evidence of her strong faith to those around her bedside, and on this faith she departed to that mansion not made with hands eternal in the heavens. The personal esteem in which she was held and the sympathy felt for the family in the loss of one so young and so promising of a long and useful life, was manifested by the very large concourse of people who attended the funeral service, conducted by her pastor, Rev. M. O. J. Kreps, assisted by a number of other ministers. Wo have every assurance that she died a triumphant death and is forever present with the Lord, a fact full of consolation for tho bereaved family, whoso loss is her eternal gain.
