She was born in Greenville County, South Carolina and was the daughter of the late Lewis R. and Susan Hyde Cox and the greater part of her life was spent in the Rocky Creek section of Greenville County. She was born in Greenville County, South Carolina and was the daughter of the late Lewis R. and Susan Hyde Cox and the greater part of her life was spent in the Rocky Creek section of Greenville County. She was a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church. Among her survivors are one daughter, Mrs. D.L. Clemons from Stuart, Florida; three sons, Homer W. Butler from Elmira, New York, Anthony E. Butler from Decatur, Georgia, Curran C. Butler from Fort Knox, Kentucky; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Steadings from Birmingham, Alabama, Mrs. Eva Forrester from Greenville; eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William J. Cox who died in 1904, Wade H. Cox who died in 1937 and three sisters, Mrs. Martha Louella Cox Forrester who died in 1957, Mrs. Leila Cox Cox who died in 1948 and Mrs. Sallie Cox Butler who died in 1939. Services will be held at Rocky Creek Baptist Church on Tuesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Leonard Hendrix officiating followed by internment in church cemetery.
