Mamie Lou McNeal, daughter of Lowell Elwood Jackson and Maud Evelyn Chew was born in Clarke County, Iowa near Hopeville and passed from this life Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Clarke County Hospital at 78 years of age. Mamie received her education in Doyle #7 near Hopeville and Murray High School. Mamie Lou McNeal, daughter of Lowell Elwood Jackson and Maud Evelyn Chew was born in Clarke County, Iowa near Hopeville and passed from this life Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Clarke County Hospital at 78 years of age. Mamie received her education in Doyle #7 near Hopeville and Murray High School. She was united in marriage to Harold Eugene McNeal on April 6, 1949 in Osceola and three daughters, Bonnie, Barbara and Beverly blessed this union. Mamie spent over twenty-four years working for Snowdon's in Osceola. She began her career as a seamstress and later, she handled much of the training for new seamstresses. She spent the next twenty-four years as Harold's primary care provider with abounding love. Music was one of Mamie's greatest joys! Over the years, she was associated with many musical groups but most notably, The Rhythm Dusters and Larry and The Messengers. Mamie loved to perform and entertained many people over the years with her characters such as "Flamy Mamie". In addition to her music, Mamie also enjoyed her garden, her animals and even enjoyed bow hunting in earlier years. Although Mamie had multiple health issues, she enjoyed life to its fullest! Those relatives who preceded Mamie in death were her Parents; husband, Harold in 2008; Sisters, Bessie Lamb and Bonnie Reasoner; Son in Law, Dwight Selsor. She leaves to cherish her memory; daughters, Bonnie Stephenson (Craig) of New Virginia, Barb VerSteegt (Larry) of Osceola, Bev Foote (Dennis) of Osceola; 5 granddaughters; 6 grandsons; 19 great grandchildren; sister in law, Annie Guthrie of Cedar Rapids; brothers in law, Robert McNeal (Viola) of Centerville, John Jr. McNeal (Glenda) of Murray; extended family, Sandy Mateer of Osceola and Marcus and Alene McCutchan of Grand River as well as a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and many many friends.
