Description	:	Manley Leon Baney of Benkelman passed away Dec. 30, 2011, at the Dundy County Hospital in Benkelman. He was 94 years old. Manley was born on Oct. 18, 1917, in Benkelman to Reverda E. and Lois (Hardwick) Baney. Manley attended rural school through the eighth grade. Manley was born on Oct. 18, 1917, in Benkelman to Reverda E. and Lois (Hardwick) Baney. Manley attended rural school through the eighth grade. On Feb. 26, 1950, he was united in marriage to Barbara Anne Barnell. They made their home in Benkelman where two sons, John and Mark, where born to this union. Manley farmed northwest of Benkelman until his retirement at the age of 80. Manley attended United Methodist Church where he served as usher. He was a member of the Benkelman American Legion. His free time was spent occasionally fishing, traveling throughout the United States, and spending time with family and friends. Preceding him in death were: parents, Reverda and Lois Baney; sister, Arlene Spears; and brothers, Lawrence, Waldo and Johnnie Baney. Survivors are: wife of almost 62 years, Barbara Baney of Benkelman; sons, John Baney and wife, Dianne, of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Mark Baney of Benkelman; grandchildren, Adam Baney and wife, Elena, and their son, Arthur and Amanda and husband, Arnold Risvik, and their son, Dexter all of Albuquerque; sister, Verle Behlke of Benkelman; and brothers, Gerald Baney of Benkelman and Marlin Baney of Evans, Colorado; numerous nieces and nephews. Burial will follow with a military committal in the Benkelman Cemetery, Benkelman, NE.
