Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Cherokee, Iowa. Services were Tuesday at Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee, with Adrian McMullen officiating. Abrahamson, 97, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away, March 31, 2006, at his home. Manly was born on Feb. 27, 1909, at Palmer, Iowa, to Minus and Hattie (Guderian) Abrahamson. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Cherokee, Iowa. Services were Tuesday at Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee, with Adrian McMullen officiating. He attended Belleville No. 5 Pocahontas County, Iowa, Country School, Palmer High School grades nine through 11, and graduated from Pocahontas High School in 1927. He attended Iowa State University for a short time. Manly worked as a hired man on a farm near Sutherland, Iowa, for five years. He then owned and operated the DX Service Station in Palmer for one year. He then farmed for 41 years near Calumet, Iowa, retiring in 1979. He was married to Mildred Mehrens on Dec. 12, 1935, at Calumet, celebrating their 50th anniversary in 1985. He had lived in Cherokee since 1975; prior to this on a farm in the Calumet, Iowa, area. He was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church, a 50-year plus member of various Masonic and Eastern Star organizations, past master of Abiff Masonic Lodge 347 at Sutherland, past worthy patron of Victory Chapter of Eastern Star at Sutherland, now affiliated with Coral Chapter of Eastern Star at Sanborn, Burning Bush Chapter 90, Crusade Commandery 39 of which he was the treasurer for several years, Tomahawk Council 57, Abu-Bekr Shrine Temple in Sioux City, charter member and past president of the Cherokee Shrine Club and member of the Cherokee Flying Carpets. Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Sally and Karl Moseman of Rockford, Ill.; and Nancy and Gerald Sears of Cherokee; a son and his wife, Thomas and Julee Abrahamson of Cherokee; a special friend, Jan Cline, of Cherokee; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Neva Peters of Red Oak, Iowa, and Fern Abrahamson of Palmer. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mildred on Oct. 18, 1991; two brothers, Clifford and Everett Abrahamson; two brothers-in-law; and two sisters-in-law.
