Description	:	Marcella Anna Blong passed away on October 5, 2016. She had been a resident at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in West Union, Iowa. Marcella (Marcy) was born on July 13, 1924 to Mike and Clara Franzen near St. Lucas, Iowa. Read More	Marcella Anna Blong passed away on October 5, 2016. She had been a resident at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in West Union, Iowa. Marcella (Marcy) was born on July 13, 1924 to Mike and Clara Franzen near St. Lucas, Iowa. Marcy attended St. Luke’s Catholic School and after leaving school, her first employment was helping several individuals in their home. On February 22, 1944 she married Leonard Blong. They lived on the Blong family farm, near St. Lucas, until they purchased a home in town. She enjoyed many trips with her husband Leonard, travelling around the United States delivering Winnebago homes and collecting treasures from those visits. Many people enjoyed Marcy’s excellent cooking and baking skills. She was very active in catering meals and baking every kind of cake from baptisms, birthdays to weddings. She also worked in several restaurants. She was an excellent seamstress, doing sewing and mending clothes for area individuals, and she took pride in her flowers around her home. Marcy was very active in the St. Luke’s Church. She was also a member of the Rosary Society. Marcy is survived by her sister, Edna Fay of Sumner; two brothers, Laverne (Rosemary) Franzen of St. Lucas and Florian (Pat) Franzen of Hawkeye; two sisters in-law, Irene Franzen of St. Lucas and Helen Franzen of West Union. Marcy was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, on October 20, 1996; three brothers, Albert, Leo and Duane; two sisters, Anna Laura and Lorrena; two brothers-in-law, Mark Bohr, and Tony Leichtnam; nephews, Donnie Leichtnam and Alan Franzen; niece, Kathy Fay; along with members of the Blong family. She will be greatly missed. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 12, 2016 from 5-7 pm with a 4:45 pm Rosary and a 7:00 pm Scripture Service at St. Luke Catholic Church, St. Lucas, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before Mass at the church on Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at St. Luke Catholic Church, St. Lucas, Iowa with Rev. Kyle Digmann as the Celebrant.
