Born in Spartanburg, she was the widow of the late Tank Maynard Parris and daughter of the late Albert J. W. Clary and Alma Thomas Clary. She graduated from Gaffney High School in 1940, attended Cecil’s Business School in Spartanburg, and retired from Belk of Gaffney after 28 years of service. She was a member of Draytonville Baptist Church where she taught pre-school children in Sunday School for over 50 years. Surviving is a son, Danny Parris of Gaffney; a daughter, Deborah Parris of Gaffney; a sister, Anne Dowdle and husband, Ben, of Peachtree Corners, Ga.; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Hoke & Shirley Parris. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Clary and a daughter-in-law, Joyce Parris. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Draytonville Baptist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 4:00 p.m. at the Church with Dr. Keith Harrill and Dr. Robert Ivey officiating. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 4, 2015 in Frederick Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to: Draytonville Baptist Church, 179 Draytonville Church Road, Gaffney, S.C. 29340 or Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 1886, Gaffney, S.C. 29342.
