Burial will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck. Marcella E. (Hoffman) Kaul was born March 13, 1940, on a farm near Leola, S.D., the daughter of Emil K. and Elizabeth (Fauth) Hoffman. Marcie attended country grade school in Spring Township and graduated from Leola High School in 1958. She attended Northern State College in Aberdeen, S.D., and graduated with a B.S. degree in elementary education in 1961. Marcie and Elmer were married on June 4, 1961, at Leola, S.D. Marcie was a fourth grade teacher in Watertown, S.D, from 1961 to 1964. In June 1964, Marcie and Elmer moved to Bismarck, where she taught fifth grade at Pioneer School in Bismarck. Marcie completed her master’s degree in elementary education from the University of North Dakota in 1986. Marcie retired in 1999 after teaching at Pioneer School in Bismarck for 27 years. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, active in WELCA and an active member of the Library Guild at Good Shepherd. Marcie was a member of various national, state and local education associations during her teaching career. She was also a member of the North Dakota Reading Association and South Central Reading Council. Marcie was currently a member of the Retired Teacher’s Association. She enjoyed reading, cross stitching, jigsaw puzzles and she was a member of two bridge clubs. She loved traveling and had been to all 50 states. She cherished time spent with her family and friends, and especially loved to spend time with her grandchildren. Marcie is survived by her husband, Elmer, Bismarck; her children, Jeff Kaul, Bismarck, and Karmen (Kyle) Carlson, Fargo; her grandchildren, Katelyn and Jack Carlson; her sister, MaryAnn (Dennis) Roehr, Britton, S.D.; and her sister-in-law, Dorothy Hoffman, Leola, S.D. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Gerald Hoffman.
