Description	:	Marcella Margaret Conley Maurer, age 92, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at The Village in Gainesville, Florida, after a long battle with cancer. She was born on her parents' farm in Pukwana, South Dakota, on March 20, 1917. She graduated from Kimball High School in 1934. She received her teaching certificate from Northern State College and went on to teach for 34 years, several of which were in one-room country schoolhouses. Read More	Marcella Margaret Conley Maurer, age 92, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at The Village in Gainesville, Florida, after a long battle with cancer. She was born on her parents' farm in Pukwana, South Dakota, on March 20, 1917. She graduated from Kimball High School in 1934. She received her teaching certificate from Northern State College and went on to teach for 34 years, several of which were in one-room country schoolhouses. She was never one to shy away from hard work and was the first one to suggest a party when the work was done. Marcella lived most of her adult life in Ukiah, California, and the last 12 years of her life in Gainesville. She made friends everywhere she went and was the life of the party. An avid reader, Gators and Cubs fan and excellent cook, Marcella had many hobbies and interests. She belonged to the Catholic Women of Gainesville, Gainesville Women's Club, Gainesville Newcomers, Delta Kappa Gamma and several other organizations both in California and Florida. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Maurer; her son, Richard L. Maurer; and her parents, Edward and Rose Conley. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Conley Schoenhard of Chamberlain, SD; her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Maurer Beach and Daniel Beach, of Gainesville; her son, Robert Mulcrone of Roseville, CA; her granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Megan and Kik Koppitch of Gainesville; her grandson, Sean Katovich of Gainesville; and her "great-grands", Lan and Laura Jo Koppitch of Gainesville. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and too many friends to count. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Haven Hospice or Tuition Assistance at Holy Faith Catholic Church. Funeral mass will be held Saturday, March 14, at Holy Faith Catholic Church, 747 NW 43rd St., Gainesville, FL 32607 at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Forest Meadows Memorial Park Central, 4100 NW 39th Avenue.
