The daughter of John and Clara (Bleyhl) Eggerling was born in Creighton on March 11, 1926, the first of nine children. She attended country schools until the sixth grade and then she was boarded by Sisters in Snyder until the eighth grade. The daughter of John and Clara (Bleyhl) Eggerling was born in Creighton on March 11, 1926, the first of nine children. She attended country schools until the sixth grade and then she was boarded by Sisters in Snyder until the eighth grade. She then joined the Franciscan Order of Sisters located in Beaver Dam, Wis., for 25 years until 1969. While in the convent, Marcelline obtained her degree as a registered nurse anesthetist (RNA). She worked at the Sisters Hospital. In 1969, Marcelline moved to Minneapolis and worked in a Methodist hospital as an RNA. She met Howard in June 1969, and they were married on Sept. 13, 1969, at St. Louis Park, Minn. After marriage, Marcelline and Howard lived in St. Louis Park until 1989. They then moved to Norfolk. Marcelline worked as a registered nurse at the Norfolk Veterans Home and the Norfolk Nursing Center until 1993, when she retired. When the couple moved to Norfolk in 1990, Marcelline and Howard had a vending business of small candy machines that covered a 75-mile radius around Norfolk. She enjoyed cooking, cleaning and traveling with Howard during the winter months. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, the Catholic Daughters and its Altar Society. Survivors include spouse Howard Degener of Norfolk; siblings Russell (Erma) Eggerling of Norfolk, James Eggerling of Norfolk, Robert (Judy) Eggerling of Neligh, Barbara (Kenneth) Merkel of Gretna, Marilyn Finch of Chattanooga, Tenn., Lois (Paul) McKeag of Highland Ranch, Colo.; numerous nieces and nephews; her stepsons, Dale Degener of Rochester, Minn., Maurice (Mary) Degener of Irvine, Calif., Lee (Diane) Dagen of Houston, Texas; a stepdaughter, Nancy Boucher of Salt Lake City, Utah; eight step grandchildren; 14 step great grandchildren and three step great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Clara; a brother, John (Carolann) Eggerling; a sister, Lucille (Wendelin) Rolf; a stepson, Steven Degener; and a sister-in-law, Marcella Eggerling.
