Read More	Wenatchee World - Friday, August 12, 2011 Wenatchee, WA Marciel Ann (Michaliszyn) Holmes, passed away August 10, 2011, in Wenatchee, WA, at Central Washington Hospital, after a year-long battle with aplastic anemia. She was born April 16, 1934, in Odessa, WA, to Gus and Ida Schorzman, and raised on the family wheat farm northeast of Marlin, WA. She graduated from Marlin High School in 1951, and continued her education at Kinman Business University in Spokane, WA. Upon completion of her business degree, she was employed by the Grant County Extension office and later became the Grant County Fair secretary. After two stints as fair secretary, she took time off to raise six children with her first husband, Stephen "Mike" Michaliszyn, who preceded her in death. On March 4, 1990, she married James Holmes of Post Falls, ID, and they made their home in Ephrata. Marciel was active in 4-H through her childhood and the American Legion Auxiliary, Eagles and Moose Lodges. She enjoyed her last months at home with family visits, the "coffee bunch": and her life long neighbors of K Street. Heartfelt thanks to oncologist Dr. Mitchell Garrison and staff, of Wenatchee Valley Medical Center, oncology staff at Central Washington Hospital, Anne Anderson and staff at the Moses Lake Clinic, and the Samaritan Hospital short stay staff. Their guidance, wonderful care and true compassion to us through this hard battle is much appreciated. Also, a special thanks to all the blood donors who, by their donations, helped extend her life. Marciel is survived by her husband, James of Ephrata; her sister, Delores (Delbert) Cook of Odessa, WA; sister-in-law, Marie Schorzman of Odessa, WA; brother- in-law Mike Holmes (Hazel) of Post Falls, ID; sister-in-law, Edith Carlson (Tom) of Spokane, WA; sons, Stephen Michaliszyn (Becky) of Vancouver, WA; Michael Michaliszyn (Karen) of Kennewick, WA; Frank Michaliszyn (Deirdre) of Meridian, ID; daughters, Diane Lipe (Stephen) of Redmond, WA; Mariann Boyd of East Wenatchee, WA; Susie Page (Ed) of Ephrata, WA; step-daughter, Karen Stephens of Coeur d'Alene, ID; step-son, James Holmes, Jr. of Forsythe, MT; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Eugene "Mutt" Schorzman; sister, Ellene "Polly" Bradshaw; brother-in-law, Clarence "Brad" Bradshaw; and son-in-law, Kenneth Boyd. Memorial Services will be at 11:00 a.m., August 15, 2011, at Nicoles Funeral Home, Ephrata, WA, with Graveside Services at the Ephrata City Cemetery, followed by a reception at the American Legion Hall. At her request please direct any donations to the Ronald McDonald House, your local blood bank, or the American Legion Auxiliary Post 28 nursing scholarship fund.
