Wednesday, May 23, 2012, the First Lutheran Church, 309 North 9th Street, Northwood, with Pastor Karen Rossing Grandall officiating. Inurnment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Hwy 18 West, Mason City. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time on Wednesday at the church. Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 First Ave. South, Northwood, is in charge of the arrangements. Marty was born on November 16, 1923, in Mason City, the daughter of Arthur and Alvina (Jaacks) Rowe. Marty was united in marriage to Robert Millard on February 15, 1948, in Mason City. Marty graduated from Mason City High School, and worked for a short period before her marriage for Cap & Gown in Mason City. After their marriage they farmed in Iowa for over 50 years. Marty was active in the Green Thumb Garden Club in Northwood, and was well known for her beautiful floral arrangements entered in the Worth County Fair. Marty loved to play bridge and golfed regularly. Bob and Marty traveled to Southern Texas in their motor home every winter for many years. The also fished in Northern Minnesota, South Dakota, and Canada on family vacations in the summer. Marty loved to listen to music even in her recent years with progressive Alzheimer's she would hum along to a song and tap her hands to the beat. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Bob Millard of Northwood; her children, Jillanne Millard of Rochester, MN, Amy (Bob) Bulver of Owatonna, MN, and JoEllen (Dave) Uhl of Eden Prairie, MN; four grandchildren, Jesse Bachtle, Jordan Bachtle-Robinson, and Taylor and Katelyn Uhl; one great-granddaughter, Cadence Robinson-Wright; as well as other extended family members and friends. Marty was preceded in death by two children, Kathy and Michael Millard; her brothers, Arthur and Chester Rowe; her sisters, Priscilla Overturf and Bonnie Rowe; and her parents, Arthur and Alvina Rowe.
