Description	:	Mardelle (Hansen) Krueger, 91, of Stromsburg, passed away Feb. 1, 2012 at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg with her family by her side. Mardelle was born Dec. 24, 1920 in Oakland to Carl T. and Julia Aldena (Larson) Hansen. Mardella attended school in Oakland graduating in 1939. Read More	Mardelle (Hansen) Krueger, 91, of Stromsburg, passed away Feb. 1, 2012 at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg with her family by her side. Mardelle was born Dec. 24, 1920 in Oakland to Carl T. and Julia Aldena (Larson) Hansen. Mardella attended school in Oakland graduating in 1939. She then began working in Tekamah in the newspaper office and selling Avon products in her spare time. On May 30, 1943, she was united in marriage to Gilbert F. Krueger at First Covenant Church at Oakland. They lived in Lyons where they both worked together in their business, Lyons Greenhouse & Floral Shop, until moving to Loveland, Colo. in 1965. Mardelle held various clerical positions until her retirement. In 1995 they moved to York and eventually Stromsburg. Gilbert passed away Aug. 20, 2002. Mardelle continued living in Stromsburg until her passing. Mardelle was an active member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, Ladies Aid and Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She sang in the choir and worked actively with Gilbert in support of the Lutheran Laymen's League, at the LLL booth at the Colorado and New Mexico State Fairs and with Laborers for Christ. For her community, Mardelle was a member, officer and state officer in the American Legion Auxiliary and also the General Federated Women's Club in Nebraska. She and Gilbert were members of the Lyons Chamber of Commerce and Nebraska Florists Society. Mardelle and her mother, Aldena, co-chaired the floral displays and judging at the Burt County Fair for several years. She was a Girl Scout leader and chaired the annual cookie drive for many years. Her interests included family, handcrafts of many varieties, sewing and camping trips with family and friends. She devoted much of her time and energy to family get-togethers and holiday celebrations. S Survivors are: children Kathy and husband Sam Cowan of Stromsburg, Marla of Grand Junction, Colo. and Chuck and wife Nancy of Johnstown, Colo.; eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Mardella was preceded in death by: husband, Gilbert; parents, Carl and Julia Hansen; sister, Elaine Gill; and two great-grandchildren. A private family burial was in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery near Bluehill, NE. Published York News Times 2/7/2012
