Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, December 8, 2013 at the Main St. Chapel of the Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown. Marella was born February 19, 1927 to Mac R. and Zepha I. (Allen) Shearer, in Albion, IA. She was educated in the Union, IA schools and graduated from MHS High School in Fannettsburg, PA. She was united in marriage to Keith Hoy on September 5, 1948 at First Baptist Church in Marshalltown. He died February 12, 1991. She was employed with Marshall Printing for 18 years as a Binder. She was a member of Bethel Grove Church. Marella loved the outdoors. Marella will be missed by five children; Sharon (Floyd) Pratt of Marshalltown, Diana Hulin of LeGrand, IA, Keith "Rick" (Nancy) Hoy II of Union, Darlene (Edward) Gillilland of Marshalltown, Barry (Denise) Hoy of Conrad, IA, 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and one great great grandson. She was preceded by her husband, one great grandchild, Jacob, three brothers, John, Allen, Harry, and a son-in-law, Dennis Hulin. Funeral services for Marella Hoy, 86, were held on Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at Bethel Grove Church in Liscomb. Officiating was Pastor Cynthia Moore. Music was provided by vocalists Esther and Jerry Richards. Casket bearers included Bruce Rook, Jon Gilliland, Matt Hulin, Mark Pratt, Jordan Hoy, Collyn Hoy, John Pratt, Stewart Pratt, Joe Robinson and Ryan Gilliland. Honorary bearer was Bryce Rook. Interment was held at Bethel Grove Cemetery in Liscomb.
