Mrs. Keigley, whose maiden name was Blair, was born in Waterford, Knox county, Ohio, Feb. 1, 1822, and was 93 years, 8 months and 6 days of age at the time of her death. Read More	Boone County Democrat October 18, 1917 Mrs. Maremna Keigley, widow of George Keigley died at her late home in Garden township Sunday, October 6, 1917. Mrs. Keigley, whose maiden name was Blair, was born in Waterford, Knox county, Ohio, Feb. 1, 1822, and was 93 years, 8 months and 6 days of age at the time of her death. At the age of ten she moved with her parents to Mount Vernon, Ohio, where she resided until her marriage with George Keigley which occurred Oct. 6, 1845. In 1852 Mr. and Mrs. Keigley moved to Boone county, Iowa and settled near Belle point, in what is now Douglass township, but two years later they settled in what is now known as Garden township. They were among the pioneer settlers of Boone County and the first permanent settlers in Garden township and they suffered the privations of pioneer life along with the other early settlers of Boone county. Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Keigley, seven of whom preceded them in death. Those now living are Worth Keigley of this community and Mrs. Ella Hicklin of Des Moines. She is also survived by one granddaughter, Mrs. Ora Robinson and one grandson. Mr. Keigley died Dec. 12, 1892, and since that time Mrs. Keigley has lived with her son, Worth at the family home. The devotion care and sympathy of her son has been most commendable. Mrs. Keigley was a fourth cousin to General Anthony Wayne of the Revolutionary war. She obtained her education in the schools of Mount Vernon, Ohio and was a careful reader of books and particularly the bible. She was united with the Presbyterian church in early life and was at all times a faithful and devoted wife and mother. All who have known her admire the manner in which she has so faithfully discharged the duties of her long life. She was always of a happy temperament and her health was good up until a few days preceding her death. The funeral services were held at the Christian church in Madrid Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. F.E. Rockwell, the pastor of ----and the remains were laid to rest in the Fairview cemetery beside those of her husband.
