She was born to Salvation Army officers and loved the moving with her parents and sister to the various schools and cities. She always thanked God for her childhood, which she loved. Mareta was born July 1, 1931, to Hilton Doyle Marshall and Ivadelle Clara Marshall in St. Paul, Minnesota. She was born to Salvation Army officers and loved the moving with her parents and sister to the various schools and cities. She always thanked God for her childhood, which she loved. She was an actor and singer from the first time her father stood her on a bass drum for a street meeting. That was her first solo and from that day on she desired to sing and act. Of course, she had a great love of animals and each animal was special to her. She graduated in 1950 from McKenzie High School in Detroit, Michigan. Later she went to the Salvation Army Training School in Atlanta, Georgia. She had lived at St. Francis Village since 1996 and had loved every day of living there. It truly was her home for those years. The village became her husband, Philip's, home after they met and then married in December of 2008. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Philip; and her six children, 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her sister, Nikki Parker.
