She was the only child of the late Frank L. and Harriet King. She married her life partner and confidant, Dr. Jacob Zimmerman, on August 19, 1943. Margaret attended Wheaton College in Illinois, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree from Oklahoma Northeastern State University, and a Master of Science degree in English from the University of Kansas. Margaret taught English in public schools for over 25 years on a secondary level, including Olathe North High School and Olathe South High School. For many years, Margaret led Kayettes, a high school girls' service organization, and a regional denominational girls' service network. In her later years, Margaret was an author, having published a book reflecting her lifetime journey with the Native American Kiowa tribe in Oklahoma. Margaret has been an active member of First Baptist Church in Olathe. In her contacts with her many friends, students, coworkers and acquaintances throughout her life, she brightened lives, caring, listening, loving, feeling with them, and saying the meaningful, healing words they needed to hear. Margaret is survived by her loving, dedicated husband of 64 years, Jacob. The couple had three children, Fran Anderson, her husband, Jim, Springfield, Missouri; Douglas Zimmerman, his wife, Linna, Kansas City, Missouri; and Barb Zimmerman, Edmond, Oklahoma along with two grandchildren, Jeff Anderson and Jill Anderson McDaniel, her husband Mike, Springfield, Missouri.
