Description	:	Margaret A. "Marge" Rasmussen, age 85, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Wednesday December 4, 2013, at the hospital in Watertown. She was the widow of Kenneth Rasmussen. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at Lutheran Church of our Redeemer in Watertown. Pastor Kent Stillson will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Marge's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Marge was born on July 5, 1928, in Brookings, SD, to Carl and Sadie (Nyman) Petersen. She graduated from Brookings High School in 1946. Marge continued her education at South Dakota State University and received a 2-year degree in 1948. On November 5, 1949, Marge married Kenneth Rasmussen at Brookings, SD. She taught in the Brookings school system from 1950 to 1952. The couple then moved to Montevideo, MN, where they had their two eldest children; Karen and David. They then moved back to Brookings where they operated a sewing business. The family moved to Sioux Falls, SD, in 1958, where Marge was a homemaker and helped with bookwork for her husband's sewing business. In 1967, the family moved to Watertown and started Rasmussen Sewing and Vacuum. Marge continued to assist in the business and be a homemaker. They operated the business until it closed in 2007. Marge enjoyed dancing, golfing, bowling and reading. She especially enjoyed socializing with her friends and family, and was often said to be the life of the party. She also enjoyed traveling to Arizona, and had done so for 14 winters. Marge was an active member of Lutheran Church of our Redeemer. Marge is survived by one son, David (Laura) Rasmussen, of Corpus Christi, TX; three daughters: Karen (Todd) Boyd of Clear Lake, SD, Peggy (Doug) Scott of Appleton, WI, and Kathy (Ron) Withee of Arlington, TX; ten grandchildren: Bryce (Amy) Boyd, Bryan Boyd (Kelly Mach), Kathi (Travis) Brandt, Kristi (Mitch) Fehr, Shawn Rasmussen, Larissa Rasmussen, Sarah (Reece) Macdonald, Samantha Withee, Maggie Withee and Maddie Withee; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Camilla Billings, of Brookings, SD; and one brother-in-law, Henry Rasmussen, of Wichita, KS. She was preceded in death by her husband, in 2011, and her parents.
