Description	:	Margaret Alice Sloan 89 of Rochester was born September 6, 1925 in Douds, Iowa to David and Elsie (Bishop) Sloan. She died Friday March 20, 2015 at Charter House in Rochester. A memorial service will be held at Charter House on Thursday March 26, at 10AM. There will be no visitation. Burial will be at Bethlehem Cemetery near Eldon, Iowa. She continued... Read More	Margaret Alice Sloan 89 of Rochester was born September 6, 1925 in Douds, Iowa to David and Elsie (Bishop) Sloan. She died Friday March 20, 2015 at Charter House in Rochester. A memorial service will be held at Charter House on Thursday March 26, at 10AM. There will be no visitation. Burial will be at Bethlehem Cemetery near Eldon, Iowa. Margaret began her teaching career in a one-room school near Eldon. Later she taught for the Air Force Dependent Schools in Japan, England and Germany. She then taught for four years in Winona. She continued her services as a reading consultant in Rochester for 20 years. In 1982 she accepted a position as assistant professor in education at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, N.M., where she taught six years. Margaret received her B.A. and M.A. from University of Iowa. She received her doctorate in education at the State University of New York in Buffalo, N.Y. She is survived by close friends, Virginia Smith and Margaret and Ruth Schafer. A special thank you to the Supportive Care Staff and Chaplain Rachael Hanson at the Mayo Clinic Charter House.
