Description	:	Margaret Ann Scott, 88, of Hawarden, died Sunday, July 31, 2011 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center surrounded by her family. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hawarden with Father Roger Linnan officiating. Burial will follow in the Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden. A Prayer Service will be 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Margaret Ann Scott was born December 2, 1922, the daughter of John and Nellie (Martens) Doherty of Rock Valley, Iowa. She graduated from Rock Valley High School and earned a teaching certificate from Westmar College. She taught country school for a number of years. Margaret Ann married Wayne Scott, of Hawarden, Iowa on April 13, 1945. They moved to the family farm near Hawarden in Union County, South Dakota in 1952, where they raised their family. She then worked at the Hawarden Community Hospital as a nursing assistant for 12 years. After retiring from the hospital, she provided home health care for 13 years. Surviving relatives include her seven children, William Scott and his wife Judy of Hawarden; Mary Bullock, of Peoria, Illinois; Jane Hedger of Aurora, Colorado; Maureen Staley and her husband Ken of Rapid City, South Dakota; James Scott and his wife Colette of Rock Valley, Iowa; Barbara Protsch and her husband Eliot of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Michael Scott and his wife Olive of Alcester, South Dakota; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Margaret Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne on August 29, 2002; her parents; a brother, Paul Dobmeier; and two infant grandsons. Obituary & Photo are from the Porter Funeral Home
