Description	:	Margaret A. (Hester) Gonnerman, age 80, of Shelby, died Wednesday July 2, 2014 at Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska. Funeral services were Tuesday July 8 at the Shelby United Methodist church. Interment was in the Shelby Cemetery. Mrs. Gonnerman was born December 6, 1933 on a farm south of Shelby. She moved with her family to Prairie Grove, Arkansas and the family moved back to Shelby a few years later. They moved to Grand Island in 1941 at which time she started violin lessons. (Hester) Gonnerman, age 80, of Shelby, died Wednesday July 2, 2014 at Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska. Funeral services were Tuesday July 8 at the Shelby United Methodist church. Interment was in the Shelby Cemetery. Mrs. Gonnerman was born December 6, 1933 on a farm south of Shelby. She moved with her family to Prairie Grove, Arkansas and the family moved back to Shelby a few years later. They moved to Grand Island in 1941 at which time she started violin lessons. She graduated high school in Grand Island in 1951. She then moved to Fremont and lived with her sister Mildred and her family. After taking a job as secretary at the Gamble-Skogmo District Office, she enrolled for college classes. She was hired by the Nebraska Natural Gas company and worked her way up from cashier to executive secretary. She resigned when she married Robert J. Peterson and became a mom to his young sons, Gregory and Randall. They had two more children, Chris and Crystal. Marge then worked part time for 4 surgeons in their medical clinic. In 1966, Bob and Marge became owners of the Shelby Hotel. The last of the children, Stephanie, was born. Soon after she began working at Annie Jeffrey County Memorial Hospital, where she worked third shift for the next 19 years. Marge was active in the Polk county Republican Women's party and held the presidency for 10 years, then was secretary and treasurer and attended state conventions as a delegate many times. She was chairwoman of Shelby's American Red Cross Bloodmobile for 12 years and also served at the county level. She held both secretary and treasurer positions in the American Legion Auxiliary. She was on the cradle roll and member of the Shelby United Methodist church. She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Marge married Gail Gonnerman August 12, 1987. They lived in Shelby, spending their winters in Apache Junction, Arizona for 15 years. Marge was an avid bridge player, loved big band music and dancing, reading, and making sure all her guests were well fed. Preceding her in death were son Randall Peterson, granddaughter Chelsea Maly, sister Mildred Ruth, parents Norma (Rosenberry) Sobotka and Floyd Hester. Dubas Funeral Home of Osceola and Stromsburg has been entrusted with arrangements.
