Scion of a Nebraska Pioneer (pre-1870) Family, she was born the 11th of 12 children to William Riecken and Margaret Aye on June 19, 1924 at the family farm south of Elkhorn, NE. Scion of a Nebraska Pioneer (pre-1870) Family, she was born the 11th of 12 children to William Riecken and Margaret Aye on June 19, 1924 at the family farm south of Elkhorn, NE. She married EM1 James Gibney USN on April 12, 1944 in Elkhorn. After living in Port Orchard, WA and Lynnhaven, VA, they returned to Nebraska and moved to Fremont. She resided in the same Fremont house for over 60 years. Besides keeping books for her husband's business, an electrical contractor, she was a long time employee of Schweser's Department Store, working in the general office and warehouse. She was an avid antique collector; and possessing the ability to read newspapers at age 3 resulted in a life-long love of literature and reading. Margaret was an 11th generation Lutheran and a 60 year member of Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont. Aunt Mottie/Gram is survived by a son, James of Wahoo, NE; daughters, Margaret "Cookie" Henry of Fremont, and Linda Bowden of Lincoln, NE; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; 2 sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 37 years and her true love, James; 6 brothers, Elmer, Roy, Homer "Nick", John, Earl "Perk", and Junior Riecken; and 5 sisters, Harriet and Anita (Snooks) Neuhaus, Lorena Holling, Wilma (Billie) and Lenora Veskerna. Private Graveside Services were held at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont, NE, and Officiated by The Rev. Michael Thomas of Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont. Now united with her beloved husband for Eternity, know you were loved and will be missed.
