Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011 at Powers Funeral Home junction of highways 25 and 34 in Creston. Rev. Valerie Burgess will officiate. Burial will be at the Massena Center Cemetery near Massena, Iowa. Open visitation will be 2 to 7 p.m. Monday, with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are to the Crest Haven Care Centre in Creston. Margaret Nichols, daughter of Carl Kraack and Hazel (Jordan) Kraack, was born June 2, 1923 in Cumberland, Iowa. She graduated from Massena High School in 1940 and studied at the CCC Business School in Omaha. On February 25, 1944, Margaret married Warren "Nick" Nichols in Coffeyville, Kansas. She lived in Atlantic until Nick returned from serving during World War II. Together they lived and worked in Atlantic from 1946 until moving in 1950 to Greenfield. In addition to being a homemaker, Margaret worked for Don Carlos Loan and Title Co. in Greenfield. In 1967, they moved to Creston, where Margaret worked as a secretary at Wellman's Dynamics from 1968 until retiring in 1994. Margaret was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Creston. Margaret is survived by her husband, Nick Nichols of Creston; daughter, Sandra (Larry Raines) Hoch of Chariton, Iowa.; two grandchildren, Doug (wife Julie) Rumple of West Des Moines and Rhonda Rumple of Chariton; two great-grandchildren, Madalyn Rumple of West Des Moines and Luke Evans of Chariton; a brother, Roy Kraack of Cypress, Calif. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Muriel Kraack and Mildred Barnholt; and a brother, Glen Kraack.
