Born in Piedmont, she was a daughter of the late William Iler and Ione Pittman Capps. She retired from Gerber Childrenswear and attended Oak Grove Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, of the home, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Morris Jones of Piedmont; sons and daughters-in-law, Jamie and Becky Brown and Gene and Nancy Brown, all of Piedmont; brothers, Kent Capps of Williamston, Bobby Capps and Ricky Capps, both of Piedmont, and Billy Capps and Ronnie Capps, both of Pelzer; sisters, Sylvia Browning and Dot Harrison, both of Pelzer, Helen Smith of Piedmont and Jackie Roberts of Alaska; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a grandson, Derek Brown, and her stepmother, Hortense Sherman Capps. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Rose Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Leon Porter and Dr. Mike Tucker officiating. The family is at the home, and will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216.
