Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Stacy-Lewis Chapel with Rev. E.C. Wolfe officiating. Donna Belle Hughes was organist, and Brian and Kristie Cummings, vocalists. Later she married Homer Birney on August 6, 1960, at Kahoka, Missouri. He died January 1, 1968. She is survived by five children, Mrs. Bernadine Winter of Camden, Tennessee, C. Lonnie McGill of Columbus Junction, Mrs. Marvin (Karen) Dent of Davenport, Mrs. Wilbur (Sandra) Tompkins of Letts and Mrs. R. "Bud" (Judy) Speth of Columbus Junction; 20 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Boyd of Columbus Junction and Mrs. Jennie Partington of Neodesha, Kansas. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Mrs. Birney was born Oct. 30, 1912, in Rural Louisa County, a daughter of James and Estella Woodruff Bennett. She married Carroll McGill in July, 1929. she later married Homer Birney, Aug 6, 1960 in Kahoka, Mo. He died Jan. 1, 1968. She was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by one son, C. Lonnie McGill, Columbus Junction; four daughters, Mrs. Bernadine Winter, Camden, Tenn.; Mrs. Marvin (Karen) Dent, Davenport; Mrs. Wilber (Sandra) Tompkins, rural Letts; and Mrs. R. "Bud" (Judy) Speth, Columbus Junction; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Boyd, Columbus Junction; and Mrs. Jennie Partington, Neodesha, Kan.; 20 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
