Mrs. Meyer, the former Margarete Dorothee Adelheid Bruggermann, was born in Hanover, Germany, August 1, 1862, having attained the age of 89 years and nearly four months. Read More	From the Palmer Journal, December 6, 1951, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney: Mrs. John Meyer, Native of Germany, Passes On - St. Libory: Mrs. John Meyer of this community passed way last Thursday afternoon at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Max Wagner near Worms. She had been seriously ill for the past five weeks. Mrs. Meyer, the former Margarete Dorothee Adelheid Bruggermann, was born in Hanover, Germany, August 1, 1862, having attained the age of 89 years and nearly four months. She was married in Germany to John Meyer Sept. 2, 1885. Four years later they came to the United States and settled at Brule, Nebraska. In 1896 the family came to Grand Island in a covered wagon, and later settled on a farm 5 miles northeast of St. Libory, where sh has lived for the past 49 years. Mrs. Meyer was a member of the Zion Lutheran church in Worms. Mr. Meyer passed away October 16, 1925. Surviving are seven sons, Henry and William of St. Libory, John Jr. and Herman of Palmer, Fred W. of Grand Island, Carl and Theodore of Burbank, California; two daughters, Mrs. Max Wagner of Chapman and Mrs. George Rohweder of Grand Island; 30 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Zion Lutheran Church in Worms, with Rev. A. F. Otto officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
