Read More	ORANGEBURG, SC Margaret Shecut Williams, 93, of Orangeburg, died Monday, August 4, 2014. Mrs. Williams will forever be remembered for the joy she brought to others. She wholeheartedly devoted herself to her family and community, never faltering in her sincere belief in the good within each one of us. Her spirit leaves behind kindness, warmth, endless good stories, a smile, and peace. Mrs. Williams was born on October 13, 1920, in Orangeburg. A graduate of the public schools of Orangeburg, she received her B.A. in English from Winthrop University in 1941. She began her life as a public servant as a teacher in Laurens, S.C. until her marriage to Senator Marshall Burns Williams, Sr. in 1942. They were married 53 years until his passing in 1995. A wife of a public servant, Mrs. Williams was also tirelessly dedicated to her community. She is known for her efforts to beautify the greater Orangeburg area, in particular with her cherry trees. She was always a great ambassador for Orangeburg and continuously worked to bring the people of Orangeburg together. She never met a stranger and dearly loved Orangeburg County and South Carolina. She took great pride in helping young people get into college. She would often help find scholarships or persuade colleges and universities to accept young people from the Orangeburg area. Mrs. Williams strongly believed it was more rewarding to give than to receive. Mrs. Williams was a founder of the Junior Service League in Orangeburg. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Friendship Force of South Carolina. She received the Order of the Palmetto for her service to her community and the state as well as the Edisto Award. She was also an active member of the First Baptist Church of Orangeburg. Perhaps Mrs. Williams' greatest trademark was her beautiful hats. Mrs. Williams was the daughter of Winnie Weimer Shecut and Marion Ashley Shecut, Sr. She and Senator Williams had four children: the late Marshall Burns Williams, Jr. (Carolyn of Barnwell, S.C.), Ann Williams Platz (the late John Platz) of Atlanta, GA; the late Mary Ashley Williams Gardner; and Charles H. Williams II (the late Honorable Karen Johnson Williams) of Orangeburg, S.C. She is survived by nine grandchildren: Kimberly Williams Corley (Greg) of Jacksonville, FL; Marshall Burns Williams III of Lexington, S.C.; Courtney Cloer Thompson (Robert) of Atlanta, GA; Margo Cloer Gramling of Summerville, S.C.; Tyler Landy Gardner of Charleston, S.C.; Marian Williams Scalise (Matt) of Surfside, S.C.; Ashley Williams Stevenson (Gary) of Bronxville, N.Y.; Charles H. Williams III (Blake) of Orangeburg, S.C.; and David Reynolds Williams (Ginny) of Orangeburg, S.C. She is also survived by sixteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Mrs. Williams' former home, Willbrook, 2464 Five Chop Road (U.S. Highway 301 South) in Orangeburg, on Tuesday, August 5, 2014, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at the First Baptist Church of Orangeburg on the Square. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. -------------------------
