Gardner, 83, beloved wife of the late Hartley Gardner, passed away at the Vitas Hospice Unit at St. Mary's Hospital, Waterbury, Connecticut, on Sunday, October 12, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. Margaret was born in Hartland, Maine, on July 10, 1931, the daughter of Sidney and Elizabeth (MacKenzie) Bizeau. She graduated from Hartland Academy. Gardner, 83, beloved wife of the late Hartley Gardner, passed away at the Vitas Hospice Unit at St. Mary's Hospital, Waterbury, Connecticut, on Sunday, October 12, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. Margaret was born in Hartland, Maine, on July 10, 1931, the daughter of Sidney and Elizabeth (MacKenzie) Bizeau. She graduated from Hartland Academy. She worked for the State of Maine Youth Center in South Portland, Maine, for 20 years prior to her retirement. Margaret was an avid knitter making afghans and other articles for her entire family. When a new child or significant other came into the family, she had to knit them an afghan. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends for her love and generosity. Margaret is survived by her mother, Elizabeth (Bizeau) Carey; daughter Mary Tardy; son-in-law Dean Simpson; grandchildren Timothy Tardy (Daisy), Hollie Badger (Michael), Angel Tardy (Edgar), Jason Simpson (Kim), Lanie Mason (Alan), Eric Gardner (Sasha), and Elizabeth Gardner (Dan); 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brother Gordon Bizeau (Angie); and sister-in-law Gertrude Bizeau; sister-in-law Marjorie McCausland; and brother-in-law Philip Gardner. She was predeceased by her father, Sidney Bizeau; daughter Nancy Simpson; son Gary Gardner; son-in-law Edwin Tardy; and brother Joseph Bizeau. The family would like to thank the Vitas Hospice for their compassion and love to Margaret, especially Stephanie who brightened her day every time she came to care for her. Also the Vitas Hospice Unit at St. Mary's Hospital for their care. They are an exceptional caring group of nurses and doctors. A graveside committal service will be held at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Route 152, in Hartland, Maine. Care has been provided by the Leete-Stevens Funeral Home, in Enfield, Connecticut, and the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, Pittsfield. (Morning Sentinel 10/15/2014)
