Description	:	Mrs. Margaret E. Zimmerman was born in Ohio in 1852, but removed with her parents at an early age to Hopkinton, Iowa, where they remained for several years and where she gained a college training. She moved to Nebraska and married David S. Zimmerman in 1883. To this union were born three children, one of whom died in infancy, while the two sons, Ross and Frank, still survive. Mr. Zimmerman died very suddenly of heart failure in 1899 and his wife, though almost crushed by the loss, took up with very limited resources the task of providing... Read More	Mrs. Margaret E. Zimmerman was born in Ohio in 1852, but removed with her parents at an early age to Hopkinton, Iowa, where they remained for several years and where she gained a college training. She moved to Nebraska and married David S. Zimmerman in 1883. To this union were born three children, one of whom died in infancy, while the two sons, Ross and Frank, still survive. Mr. Zimmerman died very suddenly of heart failure in 1899 and his wife, though almost crushed by the loss, took up with very limited resources the task of providing for and educating her two sons. This was her life work and she devoted every energy to its accomplishment. She sent one son through the University of Nebraska and he is now a successful electrical engineer in New York City. The other son, Ross, took an academic and a medical course in the University of Michigan and graduated as a practicing physician last June. Then the mother felt that her work was done and she calmly folded her hands upon her breast and lay down to die. Her last days were singularly peaceful and beautiful and she frequently said that she was going home to meet the husband who had gone so long before. She passed away very quietly on the afternoon of August 10. The funeral service was held at the home last Thursday afternoon and was conducted by her pastor, Rev. H. J. Hinman. He spoke from the text, “Her children shall rise up and call her blessed” and emphasized the beauty of her Christian character and her devotion to the duties of motherhood.
