Mrs. Wendell was born in Georgetown on March 4, 1909, a daughter of the late Daniel T. Thomas and Catherine Cox Thomas. She was a sales representative for Avon Products, Inc., and retired in 1992. Mrs. Wendell and her late husband, Frank Riley Wendell, operated Wendell's Grocery until 1981. Mrs. Wendell was born in Georgetown on March 4, 1909, a daughter of the late Daniel T. Thomas and Catherine Cox Thomas. She was a sales representative for Avon Products, Inc., and retired in 1992. Mrs. Wendell and her late husband, Frank Riley Wendell, operated Wendell's Grocery until 1981. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and served her church as a board member, Sunday School Superintendent, and as a Kindergarten Sunday School Teacher. Surviving are: three sons, Riley F. Wendell, II, and Larry Wendell, both of Georgetown, and Daniel "Dan" A. Wendell of Myrtle Beach; three daughters, Leyola W. Shokes of Georgetown, Katherine W. Plunkett of Summerville, and Lynn W. Smith of Hilton Head; eighteen grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Sunday afternoon at four o'clock at the GEORGETOWN CHAPEL OF MAYER FUNERAL HOME. Officiating will be the Rev. Henry Duncan, Jr. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. She was first married to Melvin Rodro Lambert Sr.
