Description	:	Margaret E. Proctor, age 92, a retired nurse, died from complications of a brief illness early Wednesday morning, May 5, 2010 at a Great Falls care facility. Margaret was born in Lucas County, Iowa, on November 1, 1917, a daughter of George Lawrence Beadle and Fannie Mariah (Long) Beadle. She received nurses training at the former Montana Deaconess Hospital from 1936 to 1939, graduating in a class of 36. Proctor, age 92, a retired nurse, died from complications of a brief illness early Wednesday morning, May 5, 2010 at a Great Falls care facility. Margaret was born in Lucas County, Iowa, on November 1, 1917, a daughter of George Lawrence Beadle and Fannie Mariah (Long) Beadle. She received nurses training at the former Montana Deaconess Hospital from 1936 to 1939, graduating in a class of 36. She was employed by the hospital for one year, then did private duty nursing for a year. She then was employed as an industrial nurse at Texaco Refining in Sunburst, Mont., for two years. In 1943 she married John J. Smirnis. Mr. Smirnis started his own tailor shop in 1945, where Margaret also worked. They closed the shop in 1953, and John suffered a fatal heart attack on October 17, 1953. Margaret went to work for the Great Falls Clinic and lived with and cared for Marie L. Swanson until she passed away in 1962. She continued to work at the Great Falls Clinic until 1964, when she married Virgil S. Proctor. He had been in the real estate business, and they did a great deal of traveling and became involved with the Croft Petroleum Company in Cut Bank. During this time, Margaret spent a lot of time in a camper in the Sweet Grass Hills of northern Montana. Virgil passed away on September 15, 1991, and Margaret sold their two-story home and bought a condo, where she spent most of the remainder of her life. Survivors include 2 nephews, a niece, 5 great-nephews, 2 great-nieces, and several great-great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her two husbands, she was preceded in death by a brother, George Beadle. Complete obituary published in Great Falls Tribune 5-6-2010
