Description	:	Daughter of J. Arthur & Inez (Cravath) Fellers. She received her education at Columbus and Fullerton Public Schools, graduating in 1934. Margaret was a secretary at Loup Public Power District for five years until her marriage to Louis Schmidt on March 1, 1941 in Omaha, Nebraska. Together they farmed in Polk County, keeping the books, driving the tractor, helping with harvest, and eventually selling cream and eggs to nearly 200 regular customers. Margaret moved back to Columbus six years later to take care of her mother. After her mother passed away, Margaret worked at Behlen Manufacturing in the accounting department. She also worked as a cashier at the Columbus Community Hospital, the Columbus Telegram, and the Columbus Public Library. She was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church where she was active in the Women's group, Keystone Fellowship, Tuesday Morning Bible Class and Prayer Groups. She helped organize the XYZ (Extra Years of Zest) Club, was active in the Platte County Historical Society, the American Legion Auxiliary Post #322, the New Hope Cemetery Association, the Okay Ladies Aide, and the Lone Star Extension Club. Margaret did volunteer work at the York, Nebraska Epworth Village for Children. She received the Good Neighbor Award from the Women's Division of the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce in 1989. Margaret's most favorite activity was spending time with her son and daughter and their families, making her "the richest woman in the world".
