Bishop Robert W. Salmon of the LDS third ward, conducted the services. Speakers included President J. Golden Snow, Mrs. Sarah Holt, Elder Aziel Stevenson and brief final remarks by Bishop Salmon. They paid high tribute to Mrs. King who had pioneered in Southern Alberta since coming here in 1896. Mrs. Holt told briefly of her many years of acquaintance with Mrs. King and of the undaunted devotion of this pioneer woman in her leadership through the many years in Relief Society work in the LDS church. Active in church service all her life, Mrs. King was president of the ward Relief Society for 27 years. The speakers told some of the kindnesses extended to her fellowmen, and her neighbors regardless of race or creed. She raised a family of eight children of her own. Mr. King predeceased her in 1948. Mrs. King was born in Malad City, Idaho, in January of 1871 [1870]. Her parents were George Dennis and Sara Nicholas Arbon. She was married to Thomas Owen King in the Salt Lake Temple in 1890. They moved to Canada in 1896 and settled on a homestead in Aetna, Alberta, and in 1903 moved to Raymond to give their children better educational facilities. "She was a mother who dedicated her life to her family and her church," said Bishop Salmon. There were eight children born in the family: Melvin T., Owen A. and Ross D. King, all of Raymond; Mrs. Mabel Heninger of Raymond; Mrs. Louise Fowler of Lethbridge; Sara King of Vancouver; Dorcas (predeceased), and Mrs. Natrona Hall of Vancouver. She had 25 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. All were present at the funeral except two who were away from home and unable to leave their work at this time. Also present were a number of relatives from Idaho. The ward choir, conducted by Joseph McLean, sang the hymn, "O My Father, Thou That Dwellest," a vocal solo by L. B. Tanner of Magrath, entitled "In The Garden," and Mrs. Evelyn Melchin sang the dlosing number, "The End of a Perfect Day." The invocation was given by Elder Herber F. Allen, the benediction by Ralph Walker and the graveside prayer by President Rulon H. Dahl. Pallbearers were grandsons, Bryant and Morris Heninger, Ted and Allan Fowler, Ted and Tom King.
