Description	:	Margaret Helen Munford, 91, died on February 1, 2013, at the Medical Center of South Arkansas from a sudden illness. She was born in New London, AR to Garland Munford and Amy Joiner Munford on April 21, 1921. Following her graduation from Strong High School she worked at Burgess Department Store in Strong, AR and later moved to El Dorado to work at Woolworths and later at Duggars. Read More	Margaret Helen Munford, 91, died on February 1, 2013, at the Medical Center of South Arkansas from a sudden illness. She was born in New London, AR to Garland Munford and Amy Joiner Munford on April 21, 1921. Following her graduation from Strong High School she worked at Burgess Department Store in Strong, AR and later moved to El Dorado to work at Woolworths and later at Duggars. She and her friends often went to the Louisiana Hayride and she became friends with many of the original performers. Deciding to become a nurse she attended nursing school in Camden. She worked pediatrics for 25 years at Warner Brown Hospital then was moved to Union Medical Center for another 10 years. Retiring briefly, she was soon coaxed back to part-time work in One Day Surgery for another 5 years. Margaret was known by many names – "Sis" to the New London community, "Maggie" to the nursing community, and "Nanie" to her niece and her many friends from when she would help host high-school parties. Margaret was a life-long member of the Strong Church of Christ. Though she lived in El Dorado, she maintained a close connection with her friends and family in the New London and Strong communities. She was a tireless worker who spent most of her life caring for family members. She cared for her mother and father, devoted her life to her sick niece, and spent the past 15 years caring for her sister and brother-in-law. A spirited red-head who often spoke her mind she was known for having a heart of gold. Maggie was a die-hard Atlanta Braves fan and never missed a game on television. She loved to visit Atlanta and attend the games at Fulton County Stadium. Maggie was a wonderful cook and seamstress. She enjoyed making things for her loved ones. She was the sixth of seven children and was pre-deceased by brothers Charles "Mike" Munford, Armon Otis Munford, Walter Byrd Munford and two infant brothers. Also pre-deceasing her are nieces Peggy ( Munford) Bradham and Charlene (Munford) Williams and great-nephew, Ricky Nicholson. Though she never married, Maggie, or "Sis" as many knew her, claimed every child in the family as hers. She adored them all and took great pride in each and every one as they grew. At her ninetieth birthday party, she had four generations present for the celebration. She is survived by her sister, Rubye Wineman, and three nieces, Karen Ratcliff (Brian), Carol Gilmore all of El Dorado, and Marcie Henderson (Larry) of Little Rock and one nephew, Jimmy Munford (Beth)of Strong. Her other "children" include her great-nieces Lisa Bell (Steve) of Strong, Lyn'dee Leek of Baton Rouge, LA, and Lauri Sprayberry (Linnie) of Denton, Texas, Marty Hogue (Randy) of Strong, Merri (Kevin) Holt of Strong, Heather Henderson of Little Rock and Allison Peterson (Garren) of Little Rock. Great–nephews include Ken Williams (Debbie) of El Dorado, and Mike Williams of Magnolia. Great-great nieces and nephews are Brandy (Steve) Browning of Magnolia, Jessica (Jeremy) Moore of El Dorado, Julie Williams and Brad Williams of El Dorado, Jared Bell and Cody Bell of Strong, Daniel Hogue of Strong, Lucy Osgood (Caleb) of Strong, Baylee Holt and Kyle of El Dorado, and Reece and Hadon Peterson of Little Rock. She has one great-great-great niece, Addison Moore, of El Dorado and two great-great-great nephews, Cade and Mason Browning of Magnolia. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 4, 2013, at the Strong Church of Christ under the direction of Reverend Cullen Smith. Interment will follow at New London Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors. Pallbearers are: Jared Bell, Cody Bell, John David Coleman, Kyle Holt, Jimmy Munford, and Ken Williams. Memorials can be made to Strong Church of Christ or New London Cemetery. Visitation will be at Young's Funeral Directors on Sunday February 3, 2013, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
